My name is Sharon. I'm 70 years old, and I’ve been making art since I was four. I started weaving 23 years ago after receiving a loom from the Walled Lake Clubhouse. There, I used to teach myself simple in-and-out stitches. Later, my stitching became more complex. I combine weaving with other media like drawings on paper and formed clay, and I’m inspired by the colors, textures, and unique designs that are available to me. Access to so many designs and possibilities means that each of my weavings is unique. In them, I convey stories from books, depict outdoor scenes, include depictions of animals, plants, and rocks, and I’m also inspired by history.
